The Latin American Potato Association (ALAP) stems from the Latin American Society of researchers in 1977. ALAP has held technical meetings and update every two years in different countries of the region, bringing together researchers, entrepreneurs, extension , producers and interested in growing potatoes in general. The official languages of the ALAP are Spanish and Portuguese.
ALAP has for purposes:
a) The organization of meetings and groups of regional, national and international study.
b) publication of information communications such as news, summaries of the state of the crop in a given area, payrolls researchers, extension agents, producers, etc
c) The exchange of scientific and technical personnel and other partners, as well as genetic, literature and other material.
