Founded in 1973, the Irish Potato Federation was originally set up to promote the interests of the wholesale potato trade in Ireland and to promote potato consumption. Today it consists of ten members, comprising potato growers, wholesalers, packers, importers and exporters of both seed and ware potatos. The Federation has been an active member of Euorpatat, the European Potato Trade Association, for over forty years and is recognised by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and An Board Bia (The Irish Food Board) as the official negotiating body on behalf of the wholesale potato trade in Ireland.

This 2017 Call for proposals for the Community Action Research Programme (CARP+) targeted to Egerton University and Gulu University and financed by TAGDev Programme. The CARP program aims to encourage universities to develop and invest in more comprehensive and sustained action research into a particular geographical area or in a selected commodity along the full value chain.

This will help growers make an informed decision on which varieties are best for their farm.
